Crystals and Chakras
Chakra (pronounced “shock-rah”) is a Sanskrit word for wheel or disk and refers to the main energy centers (nerve cells) in our body. Think of chakras as vital intersections in our body where the energy flows out from our spinal column. We have 7 major chakras (some say eight) and many more minor chakras, including the hands, feet, eyes, ears, knees, thighs, elbow, breast, above the head and below the feet.
Each chakra interacts with one another. Recent studies suggest that many of our dis-eases and health issues arise from blockages or imbalances that occur within chakras.
A good way to strengthen, balance, align and remove negative energy from our chakras is by working with stones that correspond to their particular chakra and color energy. It is best that the recipient be laying down (face up) with the crystal placed directly on top of the corresponding chakra.
In many cases, the color of the stone and its properties are directly associated with its corresponding chakra. ie: Hematite is the stone for the first chakra and it is a powerful grounding stone. Many green stones (which represent the heart chakra) are also very beneficial for heart healing. Darker blue stones (like lapis lazuli) are the crystals for the 3rd eye and are good for increasing our intuition.
