Azurite
Hardness: 3.5 – 4
Azurite comes from the word “Azure” which means ” blue.” Azurite gives us tremendous spiritual guidance with clairvoyance, meditation, out of body experiences and channeling. This riveting blue crystal instills empathy and compassion.
Interesting Tidbits: Azurite is 55% copper. One reason for its blue brilliance is the chemical reactions that take place between its elements (copper, carbonates, hydrogen and oxygen). It’s high water content can also contribute to its bright blue beauty. The chemical composition of Azurite is similiar to Malachite, which is why they often grow together. Both minerals are copper carbonate hydroxides which are found in copper sulfide ores. If azurite is exposed to prolonged weathering, it will become Malachite.
