Pietersite is a form of quartz that was first discovered in Namibia, Africa in 1962 by a man named Sid Peters. Approximately 30 years later, it was also found in China. African Pietersite contains crocidolite (blue asbestos) which is also found in hawks eye (blue tiger eye). Its shiny fibrous displays of red, brown, gold, blue, gray and black make it a highly sought after stone.
