Seraphinite is a dark green to gray form of clinochlore, a member of the Chlorite (Greek word for green) group. Seraphinite’s name comes from Seraph (or Seraphim), an elite group of angels or celestial beings that were recognized in the bible. It’s lines are believed to resemble the ”wings” of those angels.
Seraphinite comes exclusively from Lake Baikal area in southern Siberia, Russia. Lake Baikal is considered the oldest lake in the world dating back 30 million years.
